In many schools, there is a critical gap in the availability of licensed nurses, leaving students with diabetes vulnerable when the nurse is unavailable. This course aims to equip school employees, in collaboration with parents/caregivers and the DCES, with the essential skills and knowledge to support students with diabetes. The course emphasizes the importance of understanding the specific needs of students with diabetes and schools’ legal and ethical responsibilities in providing the necessary aids, services, support, and accommodations.
