This series will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to manage the emotional and physiological symptoms of stress while identifying and addressing the system drivers of fatigue present in the healthcare environment. This session describes the concept of burnout and the impact of the burnout cycle. It also introduces participants to the skill of reframing. Reframing is a way of changing the way one looks at a situation and in doing so, changing one s experience of it and how one responds. In the session, participants learn to differentiate real threats from perceived threats, choice from demand, and principles from outcomes. Participants also learn about anxious systems and how to practice mindfulness tools to change their perceptions of a situation and minimize the impact of stress. This course is a stand-alone learning opportunity, but it requires the pre-requisite of Session 1.
