The FMA is committed to providing physicians with professional development and educational opportunities that will strengthen their ability to succeed and thrive in whatever professional setting they choose to practice within. Today’s healthcare professionals are facing unprecedented organizational, cultural, and professional changes and challenges. With this in mind, the FMA has collaborated with a variety of experts to develop a series of online courses intended to support the leadership skills of Florida physicians. This brief module presented in a conversational way by a physician who is passionate about professional development and physician leadership is offered as a brief introduction for physicians who are considering transitioning from a 100% clinical role to one that carries more administrative/executive responsibilities. The intent is to get physicians thinking about what specific training they might need to need to position themselves as a recognized leader and executive in their organization. Course Objectives: As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to: – Identify necessary skills and core competencies for physician executives – Describe the attributes of an effective physician executive – Discuss the five leadership competencies – Determine their own particular interest in and need for professional development and leadership training
