Seeing Eye to Eye on the Management of Neurotrophic Keratitis

Seeing Eye to Eye on the Management of Neurotrophic Keratitis

Neurotrophic keratitis (NK) evolves from damage to the sensory fibers of the trigeminal nerve, the ophthalmic branch of which innervates the cornea. Assessment of corneal sensation is fundamental to diagnosis, and early diagnosis is crucial to management because untreated NK can result in loss of vision. This educational activity features real-world cases of patients with various stages of NK and aims to provide ophthalmologists with clinical data and pearls to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of NK. The desired results of this educational activity are to familiarize ophthalmologists with real-world examples of diagnosing and effectively and safely treating patients with all stages of NK that can be applied to their own practice.
