However, there is significant variation in how it is diagnosed, with divergent practice patterns and uncertainty among providers. In this episode the team explores the state of current guidelines regarding how to implement iron testing and areas of ongoing clinical uncertainty including iron deficiency in chronic inflammation. An examination of the challenges providers and patients face in identifying and diagnosing heavy menstrual bleeding highlight its prevalence and impact, and finally, the team will review how to conduct a menstrual history and gain an understanding of current perspectives of when gastrointestinal evaluation for iron deficiency may be appropriate in premenopausal women.
