PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Dysphonia is one of the most common issues with which the otolaryngologist is presented. This course will prepare the general otolaryngologist with tools and knowledge required to appropriately evaluate and treat patients with dysphonia . Emphasis will be placed on initial evaluation, understanding and interpretation of related studies, including videostroboscopy, and appropriate treatment.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Understand the basics of voice physiologyOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Understand the basics of evaluating the patient with dysphonia – including videostroboscopy.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Understand appropriate treatment options for voice disorders. We go over basics of microlaryngeal surgery, injections, and framework surgery.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: Voice disorders are very common, and it is essential for the general otolaryngologists to know the basics of appropriate evaluation and treatment.
