PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Botulinum toxin has been used successfully for decades to treat voice disorders such as adductor/abductor spasmodic dysphonia, and more recently essential voice tremor. This session will delve into a systematic approach to diagnosis, technical execution, and thoughtful analysis of response to treatment with the goal of consistent outcomes. Attendees will leave with a working knowledge of the art of using botulinum toxin injections for voice disorders.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Explain fundamentals of botulinum toxinOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Review clinical indications, methods, dosing, and logistics of using botulinum toxin to treat different voice disordersOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Demonstrate pearls and pitfalls of performing botulinum toxin injectionsBACKGROUND STATEMENT: There is a need for practical review of botulinum toxin’s clinical uses and methodology for voice disorders, particularly as this material is not uniformly taught in residency training programs.
