This e-learning course offers the critical care clinician a comprehensive review of critical care ultrasonography as defined by the ACCP/SRLF Statement on Competence in Critical Care Ultrasonography (Chest. 2009;135:1050-1060). The course covers the following components of critical care ultrasonography: • Image acquisition and machine control • Thoracic ultrasonography (lung and pleural) • Abdominal ultrasonography • Vascular ultrasonography (vascular access and venous thrombosis) • Critical care echocardiography The course provides instruction in the cognitive aspects of critical care ultrasonography, image acquisition, and image interpretation using a blended format of didactic material; video-based case review, and real-time demonstration scanning. The emphasis is on developing competence in the clinical applications of critical care ultrasonography using case-based learning.
