As point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) expands from a physician-only toolset into the domain of nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), respiratory therapists (RTs), and bedside nurses, there are important lessons to be learned about the opportunities for synergy and conflict. This session will review the current literature on how each health profession is currently using POCUS, with a linking thread of how educational programs can be integrated. Specific focus will be on training and certification for NPs and PAs, lung ultrasound for RTs, diagnostic and procedural ultrasound for nurses, and system-wide POCUS educational programming.
