Analgesia for Breast Surgery

The goal of this program is to improve administration of short-acting spinal anesthetic agents during ambulatory surgical procedures and intraoperative management of patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) slated to undergo noncardiac surgery. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Review dosing strategies for short-acting spinal anesthetic agents for ambulatory surgeries. 2. Evaluate duration of neurologic blockade of short-acting spinal anesthetics. 3. Examine adverse effects of short- and intermediate- acting spinal anesthetics for ambulatory procedures. 4. Discuss preoperative evaluation and intraoperative consider-ations for patients with LVADs undergoing noncardiac surgery. 5. Predict intraoperative complications in patients with LVADs undergoing noncardiac surgery.
