This quarterly, case-based, Medical Resident Ethics Grand Rounds will focus on infertility and the clinical and ethical dimensions of a fertility-awareness-based approach to management of infertility. The session will also define natural or fertility awareness-based methods (FABM) including the different types and the importance of providing informed consent, as well as the scientific basis for these methods, their mechanisms of action and effectiveness rates. The session will also aim to clarify common misconceptions about the use and effectiveness of FABMs. Dr. Marguerite Duane, Executive Director of FACTS – The Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach the Science- will co-present with medical residents, faculty, and ethicists from Ascension St. Vincent in Indiana.
