Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)–associated vasculitides are a heterogeneous group of rare autoimmune conditions that cause inflammation of blood vessels with various manifestations. The 3 main ANCA–associated vasculitides are granulomatosis with polyangiitis, microscopic polyangiitis, and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis. All the ANCA–associated vasculitides affect small vessels, such as capillaries, venules, and arterioles, and have a myriad of clinical manifestations, some overlapping and some independent of each other. Granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis are similar in their clinical presentations and treatment protocols. Understanding the role of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies and accurately interpreting test results are essential for effectively diagnosing and managing these diseases. This activity discusses the clinical evaluation and management of ANCA–associated vasculitides and highlights the role of an interprofessional team in treating patients with these conditions.
