Tricuspid Stenosis

Tricuspid Stenosis

Tricuspid stenosis is a rare valvular abnormality characterized by narrowing of the tricuspid valve that can lead to elevated right atrial pressures and systemic congestion. This condition often occurs with other valvular abnormalities, most commonly rheumatic mitral valve disease. Tricuspid stenosis can be broadly classified into 3 categories: acquired, congenital, and iatrogenic, and can result from various causes, including rheumatic heart disease, carcinoid syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, and congenital defects. Patients may present with symptoms such as fatigue, exertional dyspnea, and systemic congestion, with prognosis depending on the underlying cause and degree of ventricular dysfunction.Clinicians participating in this course gain comprehensive knowledge and skills related to diagnosing, managing, and treating tricuspid stenosis, enhancing their understanding of the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and diagnostic approaches for tricuspid stenosis. Participants also learn about treatment modalities, including medical management, surgical interventions, and percutaneous procedures. This course also provides valuable insights into interprofessional collaboration, communication strategies, and care coordination—enabling clinicians to deliver patient-centered care that improves outcomes and enhances patient safety.
