Tracheoinnominate fistulas (TIFs) are life-threatening complications most frequently described as occurring after tracheostomy. They are associated with massive hemorrhage and high mortality. Tracheoinnominate fistulas have also been described after tracheal resection and reconstruction procedures, after penetrating neck trauma, after migration of adjacent orthopedic hardware, and rarely, after placement of endovascular stent-grafts. This activity reviews the evaluation and management of Tracheoinnominate fistulas and highlights the role of inter-professional team members in collaborating well-coordinated care and enhance outcomes for affected patients.
