Thrombocytopenia in Pregnancy

Thrombocytopenia in Pregnancy

Thrombocytopenia, a platelet count under 150 x 109/L, is pregnancy’s second most common hematological abnormality. This CME activity reviews the presentation, diagnosis, and management of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy and discusses the role of the interprofessional team in managing pregnant women with low platelet counts. The reader will also learn about the role of other specialists, especially hematologists, in managing pregnant women with thrombocytopenia, the etiologies of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy, and how to manage them.
