Medicaid is the largest health insurance provider in the U.S. and is a major source of coverage for racial and ethnic minority groups. Furthering access to and utilization of diabetes prevention and management programs for Medicaid beneficiaries marks progress toward health equity, promotes sound fiscal policy, and supports the sustainability of delivery organizations. However, Medicaid can also represent a complex policy environment for diabetes prevention and management programs seeking reimbursement for their services. In this session, participants will learn about foundational aspects of Medicaid and how to collaborate with Medicaid agencies, Medicaid managed care organizations, and other partners. Attendees will hear about the importance of addressing health-related social needs to support participant success in these programs and beyond.
