Women Veterans have unique mental health needs. These include differences in the prevalence and expression of mental health disorders and response to treatment, as well as different biological, social, and cultural influences. While VHA mental health clinicians are current on general mental health care issues, this training will assist mental health clinicians and interprofessinoal health care teams in staying current with the distinct needs of women. This will enhance care and help to eliminate disparities for this patient population. This training is appropriate for interprofessional healthcare teams. Bisexual women serve in the US military at disproportionately high rates, and experience greater health disparities than lesbian and heterosexual women. This recorded, virtual, knowledge-based presentation will include an overview of health disparities, unique distal minority stress factors, and suggestions for adapting care to be more inclusive of bisexual women Veterans’ care needs. The aim of this presentation is to increase clinician knowledge and skills as a means of reducing health disparities within this subset of the women Veteran population.
