Diabetes care and education specialists (DCES) are aware of how mobile applications and digital tools are a growing field. In this presentation, the learner will have the opportunity to move beyond the basics and leave the presentation with a better understanding of terminology, research, and implementation of mobile applications and digital health solutions. This presentation will define digital health terms such as artificial intelligence (AI), FDA clearance, interoperability, and clinical decision support (CDS). Research in this field will be presented to showcase advancements and highlight work that still needs to be done. Finally, using the Identify, Configure, Collaborate (ICC) Framework, case studies will demonstrate how the DCES can successfully implement mobile applications and digital health tools to support persons with diabetes and clinical workflow.
