The goal of this program is to improve management of patients receiving palliative sedation, outcomes for surgical patients with regional anesthesia, and outcomes for surgical patients with goal-directed fluid therapy. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify patients who are indicated to receive palliative sedation (PS).
2. Select medications for PS.
3. Choose an appropriate anesthetic technique for use during formation of arteriovenous fistulae.
4. Prevent delirium in patients undergoing hip surgery.
5. Differentiate procedures in which patients may benefit from goal-directed fluid therapy from those in which they may not.
