This MedStar Health simulation course was created to address a knowledge gap related to interprofessional communication and clinical decision-making for providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team involved in the treatment of critical care patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD). This simulation will focus on recognizing when it is necessary to escalate care – and the use of effective communication techniques to do so. The simulations emphasize accurate clinical decision-making, in order to facilitate appropriate actions, when treating common cardiovascular & hemodynamic complications of critical care LVAD patients.
