There has been substantial progress in the field of mechanical circulatory support that have expanded the treatment options for patients with advanced-stage heart failure. Currently available MCS devices can be configured to support the left, right, or both ventricles, offering varying levels of circulatory support. Perioperative transesophageal echocardiography is a major component for surgical and anesthetic decision making during device implantation and for device function evaluation. The aim of this webinar is to comprehensively overview the echocardiographic assessment of patients receiving a temporary or durable MCS. In addition to the standard examination, device-specific pre-, intra-, and postoperative considerations will also be addressed from a surgical and Echocardiographic perspective.
