Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group-USA Speaker Series: Pediatric Guidelines

The Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group-USA (DSMIG-USA®) Speaker Series consists of webinars and enduring materials designed to share knowledge and experience related to the care of children and adults with Down syndrome and clinical research related to Down syndrome. The intended audience includes primary care physicians, specialty physicians, advanced practice providers, psychologists, dietitians, occupational and physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, genetic counselors, research scientists, residents, and trainees. The education includes live webinars that will be recorded and posted later as enduring materials. There will be a separate registration for the enduring programs.

Program Objectives
As a result of participation in this activity, members of the healthcare team will:

Explain how to best communicate news of Down syndrome diagnosis to families
Identify new recommendations for hematologic testing
Discuss new recommendations for thyroid testing
Show enhanced recommendations for evaluation of co-occurring autism and behavior problems in Down syndrome
Illustrate how to access the American Academy of Pediatrics Health Supervision Guidance for Children and Adolescents with Down syndrome and utilize the resources it provides
