Essential Procedures for Hospital & Critical Care: On Demand Workshop Bundle is a self-paced course that covers the 20 most common bedside procedures performed in the emergency room, intensive care unit, and hospital wards. This accredited 15 credit course bundle is comprised of three modules for a total of 20 video-based lectures.

This CME course will utilize a combination of instructional video and systematic discussion that will cover the indications, contraindications, techniques, complications, fluid analysis, and coding related to procedures. The course is designed to provide physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health-related professionals with information and skills to improve the care of their hospitalized patients. The focus of this course is not only how to perform these procedures but also how to optimize clinical management using data collected from these various procedures. For example, how to analyze CSF, pleural, and ascitic fluid, how to use ultrasound to assess a patient’s hemodynamic profile, and the basics of ventilator management. The format of this course is streaming-only (video recordings are not downloadable).

Central Line Placement, Peripheral IV Placement, Needle Decompression, Tube Thoracostomy, Lumbar Puncture, Basic And Difficult Airway, Management Including Video Laryngoscopy, Paracentesis, Informed Consent, Procedural Sedation, Intraosseous Line Placement, Arterial Line Placement, Mechanical Ventilation, Basic Suturing, Point-Of-Care Ultrasound Including E-FAST and RUSH Exams, Thoracentesis, and more

Learning Objectives:
Define the indications and contraindications for hospital procedures
Identify the pertinent anatomy, patient positioning, and proper technique for hospital procedures.
Discuss common complications of procedures and appropriate management should they occur.
Choose appropriate options for oral or intravenous procedural sedation.
Review how to perform basic diagnostic ultrasound.
Recognize when to utilize the ultrasound to assist with hospital procedures.
Describe the basic principles of mechanical ventilation.
Demonstrate proper code and documentation for hospital procedures.
