The goal of this program is to improve patient counseling about nutritional supplements and exercise and management of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) using probiotics. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1 Prescribe exercise based on guideline recommendations and patient experience.
2. Counsel patients on the potential benefits and side effects of nutritional supplements.
3. Identify special populations who may benefit from specific nutritional supplements.
4. Summarize the existing evidence for the use of probiotics for prevention of CDI and AAD.
5. Cite populations who are at increased risk for adverse effects from probiotics.
