Otitis media is one of the most common reasons for physician visits, antibiotic therapy, and surgery in children. This course will summarize the best published evidence from over 40 years of otitis media research, emphasizing guidelines, randomized trials, systematic reviews, and new research published during the past 12 months. Topics will include acute otitis media, recurrent acute otitis media, otitis media treatment failures, otitis media with effusion, and surgical management (tympanostomy tubes and adenoidectomy). Emphasis is placed on pragmatic advice for everyday practice settings.
