NOTE: This activity is available only as part of a paid subscription series; it is not available for purchase as a single, stand-alone activity.

The goal of this program is to improve the use of early extubation in the enhanced recovery after surgery pathway, review the pathophysiology of abnormal international normalized ratio levels, and improve the management of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in children. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Elaborate on the protocols of enhanced recovery after surgery for early extubation following cardiac surgery.
2. Emphasize the importance of the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways in secondary hemostasis.
3. Compare treatment options for fibrinolysis.
4. Differentiate among various serotonin receptors used for prevention and management of PONV.
5. Select appropriate antiemetics for treating PONV.
