With the increasing use of core needle biopsy, the practice of performing breast fine needle aspirations (FNA) has decreased overtime in many developed countries. However, it remains the initial diagnostic procedure in medically under-resourced settings and may be used in specific clinical scenarios in breast cancer screening programs – hence the diagnostic challenges in breast cytology persist. At last, the IAC Yokohama System has provided an avenue to standardize the reporting and improve the interpretation of breast FNA among pathologists. This webinar will review the categories utilized in the IAC Yokohama reporting system, address limitations and illustrate challenging cases.
