The goal of this program is to improve the incorporation of key principles of the Choosing Wisely initiative into clinical practices. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Use communication techniques for relaying helpful information to patients.
2. Utilize evidence-based resources that facilitate shared decision-making between the physician and the patient.
3. Decide whether bone density screening is indicated based on recommendations from the American Academy of Family Physicians.
4. Compare the potential harms and benefits of cardiac screening in asymptomatic low-risk patients.
5. Identify red flags among the presenting signs and symptoms of low back pain that may indicate diagnostic imaging.
