The ASE PCHD Council and Education committees is continuing a series of webinars to discuss and share practical tips / tricks in the practice of congenital heart disease imaging. This educational offering will comprise of 4 webinars /year (one per quarter). By leveraging the virtual platform, these sessions are designed to reach the ASE pediatric and congenital community, both sonographers and physicians.
This webinar will be a case-based discussion with focus importance of communication to allow for optimal decision making when performing transesophageal echocardiography in the operating room. The presentations will focus on cases in which communication and teamwork were utilized to ensure optimal outcome was achieved.
Learning Objectives:
1. Recognize the importance of a thorough post-operative TEE exam to identify issues that can be addressed intraoperatively to mitigate need for re-intervention at a later time.
2. Understand the importance of communication between imagers and the surgical team intraoperatively for best surgical outcomes
3. Learn strategies for real-time imaging and troubleshooting when issues arise in the OR.
