The goal of this program is to improve breastfeeding support for mothers and the care of children with Down syndrome (DS). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Aid new mothers in choosing attainable breastfeeding goals.
2. Identify and rectify causes of painful breastfeeding.
3. Recognize contraindications to breastfeeding.
4. Counsel parents about psychiatric comorbidities that may occur across the lifespan of individuals with DS.
5. Follow screening guidelines for identification of medical comorbidities in children with DS
