Trauma Management/Bariatric Surgery Complications

Trauma Management/Bariatric Surgery Complications

The goal of this program is to improve screening for blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI), management of traumatic brain injury (TBI), implementation of brain injury guidelines (BIG), fluid resuscitation in sepsis, and management of small bowel obstruction (SBO) after bariatric surgery. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Evaluate use of universal vs selective screening for BCVI. 2. Weigh benefits vs risks associated with optimization of brain tissue oxygenation monitoring in the management of TBI. 3. Recognize patient and medical system benefits associated with implementation of BIG. 4. Analyze the efficacy of large-volume fluid resuscitation vs fluid restriction in the management of sepsis. 5. Diagnose SBO after bariatric surgery.
