Amyloidosis is a disease characterized by the deposition of an abnormal protein known as amyloid in various body parts, which can affect the eyes and the ocular adnexa. Ocular amyloidosis can manifest in 2 ways, either as a localized form limited to the eyes or as a part of systemic amyloidosis. Ocular features can be the initial presentation of systemic amyloidosis or may appear later in the disease. Due to its varied clinical manifestations, managing ocular amyloidosis poses diagnostic and management challenges. From minor ocular involvement to severe visual impairment, the spectrum of ocular amyloidosis underscores the necessity for an interprofessional care team approach to facilitate early diagnosis and optimal management and reduce the risk for complications. This educational activity reviews the complexities of ocular amyloidosis, with diverse presentations and significant implications for patient care. This activity includes a review of the pathophysiology, histopathology, clinical features, treatment options, prognosis, and complications, emphasizing the importance of an interdisciplinary team to provide a coordinated approach to diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
