Concepts in High-Risk and Critical Care Obstetrics - Advanced

Concepts in High-Risk and Critical Care Obstetrics - Advanced

The interprofessional team at Clinical Concepts in Obstetrics present a unique, comprehensive course in high-risk and critical care obstetrics. The course is intended for all healthcare professionals caring for pregnant and postpartum patients. We have created a Foundations course and Advanced Concepts course which are complementary and ideally taken in succession. The Advanced Concepts course delves deeper into disease pathophysiology and explores critical care concepts including invasive and noninvasive assessment, respiratory support, and medications. Issues related to monitoring and delivery of a critically ill patient in an intensive care setting are also explored. In addition, a module of the course is devoted to improving team performance reviewing: how to uncover and measure unit issues, a role delegation strategy applicable to all OB emergencies, use of cognitive aids, and debriefing to facilitate teamwork.
