According to a recent study by the American Cancer Society covering 2020-2022, about 4.4% of men (1 in 23) and 4.1% of women (1 in 25) will develop colorectal cancer (CRC) during their lifetime. However, among physicians, there’s disagreement on the best way to screen for colorectal cancer, including which test to use, when to start, and how often to do it. While colonoscopy has long been seen as the top choice due to its ability to thoroughly examine the colon and remove precancerous growths, other screening methods such as stool tests, sigmoidoscopy, or computed tomography (CT) are also options. Meanwhile, fatty liver disease affects a significant portion of the population, with around 20% to 30% of people in Western countries affected. Despite its potential to lead to serious liver conditions like cirrhosis and liver cancer, many physicians lack up-to-date knowledge on its diagnosis and treatment. This educational activity is tailored for primary care providers, equipping them with the latest tools and guidelines to effectively screen for both colorectal cancer and fatty liver disease.
