Faculty will review modern techniques in soft tissue reconstruction of the upper extremity. Topics will include skin substitutes, skin grafting, pedicled/ local flaps, free flaps, bone flaps, and replantation/ revascularization. Our focus will be to provide tips & tricks for these reconstructive techniques. We will review any innovations available for soft tissue reconstruction. We will identify practice management considerations for surgeons who may be in a low volume center for microvascular surgery. Other practice management considerations for replant/vrevascularization procedures and the need for emergent vs. elective surgical planning. Peri-operative care of reconstruction patients will be discussed to include flap monitoring, donor site management, and anticoagulation. Lastly, concepts for replantation vs. amputation will be reviewed.
