1. Proficient in managing the infant exposed perinatally to HIV.
2. Able to provide recommendations on when to start and when to change antiretroviral therapy in child,
adolescents, and young persons infected with HIV and demonstrate knowledge of the individual drugs
including toxicities, interactions, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and administration.
3. Able to manage the many opportunistic infections and sexually transmitted infections associated with HIV
infection.
4. Knowledgeable about the complexities and challenges of care in adolescents/young persons with HIV
including disclosure, adherence, and sexual behavior, and able to formulate individual management
plans.
5. Able to meet these objectives irrespective of setting
