2024 SCCM Congress Digital - Just enough statistics: A primer on interpreting medical literature for the practicing clinician

How do you separate high-quality studies from poor-quality ones? Clinicians are expected to interpret studies despite often receiving little formal training. This session offers a primer for the practicing clinician in how to interpret studies, addressing concepts such as bias, censoring, power, and confounding. Real examples from the critical care literature will be used. No math is necessary! This session will also offer some resources for clinicians who want to get enough bearings to critically interpret a study.
