2024 SCCM Congress - Pro/Con Debate: ECMO for Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: Worthwhile or Worthless?

The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in resuscitation has increased because of its success with in-hospital arrests. Several studies are now focusing on application of ECMO for out-of-hospital arrests (extracorporeal CRP). The results of these studies vary, which may be related to differences in study design, ECMO experience, overall extracorporeal CPR program administration, and CPR quality. These differences will be highlighted in a spirited debate between two speakers.
