In nearly 5 hours, learn how to speed up your time spent in Epic. Healthcare provider (HCP) burnout is on the rise with electronic medical record (EMR) use being cited as a factor, particularly with the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic. Burnout in HCPs is associated with negative patient outcomes therefore crucial to understand and address factors that affect burnout. After (1) assessing the relationship between EMR use and burnout and (2) exploring interventions to reduce EMR-related burnout, this live CME activity has been designed to change learner competence, focusing on the American Board of Medical Specialties area of systems-based practice and the ACGME/ABMS area of Practice-Based Learning and Improvement and the Institute of Medicine s Utilize Informatics. The purpose of this training is to educate providers using EMR in daily practice to use best-practice strategies to accommodate workflows in in all specialty areas of healthcare. This activity allows providers to apply techniques to optimize documentation and ordering tools, review upgrades, and evaluate any areas of concern or EMR burden. This training has also been developed to reduce EMR-related burnout, ease documentation load, and assist in increasing physician vitality as discussed through the physician health and wellness committee.
