The goal of this program is to improve management of the hostile abdomen, the complicated gallbladder, and the difficult hernia, and assessment of candidacy for kidney or pancreas transplantation. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Optimize metabolic and nutritional support in patients with hostile abdomens.
2. Diagnose high-risk cholecystitis according to the Tokyo Guidelines 2018 and American Association for the Surgery of Trauma grading scale.
3. Differentiate among surgical approaches in patients with difficult hernias.
4. Use imaging and diagnostic testing for candidates who may undergo kidney or pancreas transplantation.
5. List contraindications to kidney transplantation.
