The goal of this program is to improve the management of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and the diagnosis and management of oncologic emergencies in the emergency depart ment. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of heated high flow nasal cannula with those of other oxygen delivery devices. 2. Incorporate the ratio of oxygen saturation index in clinical decision-making when considering intubation in a patient with ARDS. 3. Diagnose malignant spinal cord compression syndrome. 4. Select appropriate potassium-binding agents for patients with tumor lysis syndrome and other comorbid conditions. 5. Use appropriate treatment strategies for the management of febrile neutropenia.
