The purpose of the 2024 Meeting the Mental Health Needs of Aging Veterans” webinar series is to build and maintain awareness about effective, interprofessional approaches for geriatric mental health care in VHA. The need for this training is to address knowledge gaps created by new and emerging geriatric mental health care models and treatment approaches, and to communicate improvements and updates to existing care options. This webinar is appropriate for interprofessional healthcare teams.
This recorded, knowledge-based virtual training will provide an overview of systematic effort to examine how VA is addressing the needs of aging and disabled Veterans through partnership with Mental Health, and Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC). Using homeless data and GEC data, promising practices from the field, and partnership development/implementation of VISN Geriatric Specialist, VA professionals will experience increased awareness of the initiative and strategies to best address barriers.
