Veterans are disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s disease (AD) causing significant challenges for the Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system. Until recently, treatment of AD was limited to symptomatic management; however, the emergence of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) offers patients additional options. Eligibility to receive DMTs is complex and contingent on the early identification and diagnosis of AD, necessitating provider vigilance in patient assessment, in-depth understanding of VA requirements for DMT infusion, and development of infusion programs to support use. In this on-demand video, expert faculty will discuss approaches to early diagnosis and treatment of AD, explain the latest clinical data on novel DMTs, and review outcomes and action plans from VA systems across the country to address the gaps in current practices and advanced AD care. Tune in and learn actionable strategies to implement in your own practice for establishing patient-centered, evidenced-based programs that address the needs of veterans with AD in your system.
