The goal of this program is to improve management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and substance abuse disorder in adults and adolescents. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify common psychiatric comorbidities in patients with ADHD.
2. Summarize the long-term outcomes of early treatment for ADHD.
3. Develop strategies for management of concurrent ADHD and substance use disorder in children and young adults.
4. Counsel patients about the health and legal risks associated with stimulant misuse.
5. Select pharmacologic therapy for ADHD to optimize response and minimize risk for misuse.
