The goal of this program is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescents and adults and the use of biologic and immunosuppressive therapies for COVID-19 infection. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify children and adolescents with ADHD based on criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders, Fifth Edition.
2. Distinguish ADHD from other common comorbidities including anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.
3. Prescribe pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions for patients with ADHD.
4. Elaborate on the immunopathogenesis of COVID-19 infection and the role of cytokines in disease severity.
5. Select appropriate medications for treating COVID-19 infection.
