The goal of this program is to improve advance care plan-ning (ACP) in patients with serious medical conditions and patient outcomes through reduction of burnout. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify patients requiring ACP discussions.
2. Effectively begin an ACP discussion with terminally ill patients.
3. Explain the difference between a living will and the Five Wishes advance directive.
4. Interpret the Maslach Burnout Inventory for better understanding of how to avoid burnout.
5. List statistics regarding nurse and physician suicide.
