This course is intended for physicians, nursing, and laboratory professionals who transfuse blood or blood products to patients. who perform or support red cell exchange in patients. This continuing education activity will support the healthcare team in understanding adverse reactions to transfusion. A critical skill that all members of the healthcare team must refine is recognition and subsequent treatment of an adverse reaction to transfusion (transfusion reaction). This course will review the descriptions and risks associated with the most commonly encountered transfusion reactions.
