ALCOHOL-RELATED LIVER DISEASE/PORTAL HYPERTENSION/PREGNANCY AND LIVER DISEASE

The goal of this program is to improve the management of alcohol-related liver diseases, portal hypertension, and liver diseases in pregnancy. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Evaluate treatment options available for managing alcohol use disorder and severe alcohol-related liver diseases.
2. Utilize appropriate diagnostic tools to identify and stage alcohol-related liver disease in patients with alcohol use disorder.
3. Identify patients at risk for progression from clinically significant portal hypertension to decompensated cirrhosis.
4. Devise a management strategy aimed at preventing the development of hepatic decompensation.
5. Differentiate between clinical presentations of various liver diseases that can occur during pregnancy.
