An Overview of Non-Nutritive Sweeteners and Their Role in Obesity (Recorded Webinar)

The number of non-nutritive sweeteners (NNS) available, both synthetic and natural, has increased rapidly in recent years. While widely used by our patients, it is still debated whether they are a potential contributor to obesity, have serious adverse effects or are helpful in preventing and treating obesity. This webinar will review the history of NNS, the current NNS available, and its role in metabolic health. At the end of the session, the participant should be able to describe the different classes of NNS list some of their individual characteristics including possible adverse effects, and better advise their patients on whether to use NNS as part of a healthy diet.
