Systemic hypertension is a condition that poses a significant risk of complications for patients with cardiovascular disease and contributes significantly to all-cause mortality worldwide. Combining angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) effectively controls blood pressure due to synergistic action. Widespread uncontrolled hypertension due to poor medication adherence led to the development of single-pill combination medications to improve compliance.
